OUR PROCESS

our process

At Rock Solid Surfaces, we believe that both granite and quartz are not just mere slabs of rock that are processed and attached to cabinets. They are remarkable works of nature that have taken millions of years to form. We understand that installing a stone surface in your home or business is akin to owning an original painting or a piece of art, and that's how we approach the entire process.

Here are detailed descriptions for each of the six steps that go into selecting, fabricating, and installing your new stone surface.

1. SELECTION

At Rock Solid Surfaces, we take pride in our selection process, which involves working closely with our customers to help them choose the right materials, design, and layout for their project. Our team of experienced professionals understands that every customer has unique preferences and requirements, and we strive to provide personalized attention and transparent communication throughout the entire selection process. Whether you're looking for granite or quartz, we have a wide range of options to choose from, and we're always happy to guide you through the selection process to ensure that you're completely satisfied with your final choice.

2. ESTIMATE

At Rock Solid Surfaces, we understand the importance of transparency and communication when it comes to pricing. That's why after the selection process, our team will provide you with a detailed estimate for your project, including all costs associated with materials, labor, and any additional services requested. We work closely with our customers to ensure that the estimate fits within their budget and meets their expectations.

3. laser template

Our team will visit you at a pre-appointed time to get all the measurements we will need to create a cutting template for your new stone countertop. During your appointment, our technician will mount a laser measuring system on a tripod that will produce a hyper-accurate 3D map of the area where your stone will be installed.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ANY NEW SINKS OR APPLIANCES ON HAND.

If you plan to install a new sink, faucet, or cooking surface, then you will need to have those items on hand at the time of templating. Depending on the make and model, we may take your sink or appliance with us back to our facility so we can gather more precise measurements.

MAKE SURE YOUR COUNTERTOPS ARE CLEARED OFF.

To ensure a smooth and efficient installation process, we kindly ask that you clear off your existing countertops prior to our arrival.

4. LAYOUT

After we have created your template, we overlay our map onto digital photos of your stone. We then manipulate the position of the template to capture the very best aspects of the material. It sounds simple, but this is the step that can make or break the final look and quality of your project.

If you trust our judgment, great, but if you want us to email you photos of our layouts, we would be happy to. Regardless of your level of involvement, we will always email you for approval before we begin cutting any heavily veined pieces of stone.

5. FABRICATION

The fabricating begins when we enter the data we have collected about your surfaces into our computer system and assign a unique identifier to your project. The computer then transfers this information to our two primary CNC routers. The first router uses a combination of saw blades and waterjets to cut a precision outline into the stone slab that exactly matches the dimensions taken during templating. The second router cuts holes into the slab to fit sinks or appliances. This machine also mills and preps the edges.

Once your stone has been processed by our CNC machines, our craftsmen will set up your countertop exactly as it will appear in your home or business. They then inspect every inch of the surface and match up seams for quality control. After inspection, they hand-finish every edge to ensure that the final product is absolutely perfect.

6. installation

During the installation process, our team will carefully transport and install your new countertops. We take great care to ensure that your countertops are installed correctly and efficiently, minimizing any disruption to your daily routine. Our goal is to make the installation process as stress-free as possible for our customers.
